Wichita Wednesday (July 7th) - Sarah Base

Tell us a little about yourself. When and why did you start baking?Hi all! My name is Sarah Base. I was raised in the Wichita area. My husband and I have been married for 10 years, and we have an 8 year old son. I had never been much of a baker (and certainly not a decorator) until my sister-in-law invited me to a cookie decorating class. While I was positive my cookie class creations were doomed to be a train wreck, I still went and was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. That one class led me to believe I could bake and decorate cookies for my son's birthday, and that's just what I did. Since those first cookies, I have had an overwhelming and humbling amount of requests for custom cookies. It has now turned into a home-based business as well as being a very gratifying artistic outlet for me.What is one Cake Stuff item you cannot live without?I don't think I could get by without the big selection of cookie cutters that Cake Stuff has to offer. It's nice to have somewhere local I can go pick up the things I need, especially in a pinch. If you could bake/decorate with anyone famous who would it be?I'm going to need Chris Pratt to be my famous baking buddy. I mean, he's super dreamy, funny, he's an Avenger AND a dinosaur trainer. How could there be anyone better?Do you have a local baking business, or do you just bake/decorate for fun?I operate my own home-based business for custom cookies. It has taken off incredibly and I am happy to be serving the Wichita and surrounding areas! Check out my Facebook page Sweet B's Bakehouse by Sarah at https://www.facebook.com/sweetbsbakehouse.
